Plasma beauty skin treatments

Multiple low energy plasma skin treatments minimize wrinkles in the face. Facial appearance and wrinkles may be reduced using plasma skin regeneration tool. Energy from plasma is emitted in millisecond long pulses to target skin tissues. It has been used as high energy single treatments for acne scarring or wrinkle reductions. The treatment requires a week or more time for healing.

This skin regeneration process is a completely new plasma energy technology that works on and below the surface of the skin to modify the skin’s architecture to generate new collagen. The transfer of plasma energy to the treated area is done without direct contact to the skin. The skin’s outer layers are being preserved until new skin regenerates. This is effective in reducing fine lines and deep wrinkles, treating sun damaged skin, improving acne scars and tightening of skin.

Forget undergoing knife surgeries. Say hello to a nonsurgical cosmetic treatment – plasma!

Revitalize your appearance by simple skin rejuvenation naturally restoring youthful appearance stimulating your body’s natural rejuvenation process. Combat the visible signs of aging by stimulating natural collagen production under the surface of your skin. Plastic skin regeneration is the latest technique which continuously shows improvements for as long as a year after treatment.

Leeches, plasma and snake venom for beauty treatments, anyone?

Leech sucks! These are the ones most people heard about – leeches suck blood of people and animals. There are at least 650 species of leeches living all over the world usually thriving in places that are wet or damp. Leeches have a smaller sucker on its front end where its mouth is located and another larger sucker on its back end which helps hold on to surfaces like soil, rocks or animals.

Leeches are popular in prehistoric times to help treat some form of pain. The world’s first anticoagulant hirudin was discovered in the salivary gland of the medicinal leech Hirudo Medicinalis. This made scientist think that the leech is a living pharmacopeia that holds considerable promise in medical biotechnology.

Plastic and microvascular surgeons have been utilizing the ability of this medicinal worm to inject anticoagulants and remove blood. The use of leeches has been reported as an adjunct for grafted skin flaps and breast reconstruction. Removal of accumulated blood seems to be a task where the leech is well settled including their utility in the reattachment of severed digits. The leech is applied to the sutured lines of reimplanted digits in an attempt to reduce venous congestion following surgery where venous returns may be impaired.

The anticoagulants in its saliva cause the bites to bleed for many hours after the leech was detached. Systemic utilization of the leech salivary gland has been reported to prevent some pathological changes of diffuse intravascular coagulation (DIC). Leeches have been recently used in the evacuation of periorbital hematomas, used in treatment of hemorrhoids and varicose veins, prevents consumption of clotting factors and development of multiple microthombi and inhibition of localized hemorrhagic necrosis.

What really entice me to write about leeches is the phrase I’ve stumbled in on one of my research which is about its association to interfere on the metastatic growth of some lung tumors and its efficacy of a fibrinase on atherosclerotic plagues which is still under investigation. However the popularity curve of the leech has been as undulating as the manner in which it swims because its use has its own shortcomings also. Apparently clinicians do not recommend cross application of leeches because of the potential hazard for infection and its ability to harbor certain viruses for extended periods.

Leeches has become one of modern medicine's effective tools to restore blood flow as such as re-attached ears, fingers and toes. When placed on a finger or toe, the germ free leech attaches and begins sucking. The patient feels nothing but oxygen rich blood instantly begins to flow bringing the body part back to life again. Leeches, no matter how weird and yuk it may be, has its own vital medical use.

Cancer vaccine

Scientist may be a step closer to producing a specific targeted vaccine which could kill cancer cells. They were talking about designing a vaccine that has the ability to home in on proteins and has the capacity to deliver a message to the immune system. This will trigger the immune system to start attacking the invading cancer cells. UK researchers have identified a protein on the immune cells that may harness the body’s defenses to attack a tumor. The protein is unique to only one type of immune cell in the body which is called dendritic cell. Dendritic cell is responsible for triggering the body’s defense system.

The idea is to introduce a foreign molecule from a cancer cell to target dendritic cells. This will then cause the immune system to attack the invading cancer. The same concept could be applied to treatment for diseases HIV or malaria. The vaccines work by triggering an army of immune cells to attack potentially dangerous foreign molecules wherein dendritic cells tend to act as messengers that tells T cells which ones to attack. The research is still ongoing but is very promising indeed.

What you lose when you try to lose fats the wrong way

Eating behavior particularly diets that omit or severely restrict whole categories of foods can have serious negative impacts on micronutrient status. Diets that eliminate all animal foods provide almost no Vitamin B12 and have also been associated with cases of crickets (Vitamin D deficiency) and other vitamin deficiencies. Skipping meals and dieting to lose weight frequently compromise micronutrient intake. In general it is extremely difficult to meet all of the requirements for micronutrients at intakes of less than 1200 calories per day.

So we thought that we gain an edge when we lose the fats. Well it will take us to another problem if we start dieting without proper medical consultation. Knowing what your body needs and how to plan your meals correctly are very important. You will never go healthy without proper nutrition intake.

Understanding Epilepsy

Anxiety is an emotional uneasiness associated with the anticipation of loss or danger. Unrecognized anxiety symptoms may lead to further suffering of the patient and his family. Children and adolescents with epilepsy may in particular be prone to anxiety. The unpredictability of seizures and the stigma associated with epilepsy may predispose children and adolescents to anxiety and negative affective responses.

Partial seizures that arise from structural abnormality in the brain may be described as symptomatic epilepsy. Common causes of epilepsy may be inherited, congenital malformations present at birth, undetected brain tumors, acquired metabolic diseases like low blood glucose concentration or low serum calcium, chronic renal failure and certain infectious diseases like bacterial meningitis or encephalitis.

The most common form used to determine epilepsy is EEG or electroencephalography. There may be a gap of some years between the first seizure and the diagnosis of epilepsy. Most patients who developed epilepsy were treated. There are epileptic conditions that may take a well circumscribed short lived course. This implies that treatment might be curative among some individuals.

However seizures may acquire a more regular circadian rhythm during the illness and appear preferentially during sleep. Another peculiar form of partial epilepsy has been determined by which seizures appear almost exclusively during sleep. This is what we call as nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (NFLE).

NFLE seizures are characterized by complex motor and behavioral activity consisting of cycling or kicking activity of all four limbs or rocking of the trunk. Sometimes this is manifested by semi-purposeful repetitive movements mimicking sexual or defensive activity. The patient may vocalize, scream or swear during the occurrence of the seizure. The violent behavior most of the time may cause the patient to fall out of bed or physically hurt self. Then the patient just normally goes back to sleep again. Sleep may facilitate epileptic seizures in some forms of epilepsy.

When you see the signs especially during sleep you need not be afraid that it is some kind of spiritual or suspect of bad experience or something. Just bring your loved one to the doctor for an appropriate diagnosis. Early intervention is preferred for this type of illness.

What is lupus?

Lupus or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is widely regarded as a rare small print disease relentlessly progressing to involve the kidneys and usually fatal. Lupus is a disease which causes the immune system to become over active resulting to clinically obvious problems as such as skin rashes, hair loss, joint swelling, chest pain and fever.

Symptoms like tiredness, depression and muscle aches are more difficult to diagnose since it can point to other types of diseases obviously carrying the same symptoms which are seen to be common. In the majority of patients, the disease has a relatively benign course and a normal life expectancy. Lupus is often described as opposite to AIDS.

The basic problem is the alteration in the patient’s immune system which produces too many antibodies. The overdrive results to overactive systemic system creating some sort of inflammation. There is no known cause for the disease despite years of research. There has been no virus or infectious cause identified with its occurrence. It is evident that lupus patients are allergy prone because of the abnormal activity of their immune system by which allergies from diet are seen to develop within hours of ingestion.

If you have this disease please be careful with what you eat. Better carry with you the list of the food you are able to eat and always ask waiters or food counter servers about the components of the food you plan to order otherwise you have to cook and eat your own good meal at home to be safe.

Asthma and its intervention

The severity of asthma fluctuates with corresponding change in management requirements. Effective early introduction of anti-inflammatory treatment in children with asthma improves the prognosis. The earlier the treatment is started the greater the improvement will be in lung function. Usual symptoms of asthma are wheeze, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath and sputum production. Some may exhibit prodromal symptoms preceding attack like itching under the chin, discomfort between shoulder blades and inexplicable fear. Education, counseling and environmental interventions are very important if you have this disease.

Some parents take asthma for granted. Please don’t take any symptoms for granted. Asthma most of the times are associated with colds and cough. Yes that is true but at certain intensity of the disease, it has to be taken cared of and intervened promptly. A persistent cough and wheeze every night, poor or unmanaged asthma impacts a person’s personal relationships, lifestyle, activity, attendance at school and at work, social interaction and feeling of well being. The prevalence of allergic sensitivity is lower in adults than in children. One of the most important tests is the test for lung inflammation since the main physiological manifestation of asthma is variable airway obstruction. It is logical and compulsory to include pulmonary function test in evaluating the effectiveness of asthma intervention. However with rare disease brittle asthma, high prevalence of food intolerance has been noted.

Overweight is significantly higher in children with moderate-to-severe where overweight promotes severity. The effects on increased BMI on asthma are mediated by the mechanical properties of the respiratory system associated with obesity. Elevated BMI and dietary patterns especially intake of excess lipids contribute to symptoms of asthma. Nutritional status is very important in order to maintain healthy lungs. Lungs functions are said to be better with higher antioxidant levels. Dietary modifications may help manage asthma by preventing distention of stomach from large meals. Large meals results to distress which aggravates asthma. Diet affects altered immune or antioxidant activity which may cause the lungs infection and effect airway inflammation.

Intervention:

  1. Optimize nutritional status on Vitamins C, B6 and E, selenium and magnesium. Reduce intake of Oleic acid while increasing intake of Omega 3 fatty acids.
  2. Health maintenance program or exercise or physical activity. Maybe tai chi or calisthenics may be advisable at the early stage of physical activity to increase stamina first. Then increase with sports and other strenuous physical activity if tolerated. Stop and rest when you feel you are hardly breathing.
  3. Plan a balanced, small meal. Fruits and vegetables are preferred. Omit food allergens like milk, eggs, seafood and fish. Try to lose weight.
  4. More fluid intake is encouraged. Please use less sodium.
  5. A combination of three herbal extracts in China identified as ASHMI has been found to be useful.

It is always best to consult your doctor and a nutrition expert in your area before implementing your planned diet. I appreciate if you could post comments regarding asthma prevention practice you have.

benefits of taking vitamin A

High dose of vitamin A supplementation is a proven means of controlling xerophthalmia, prevents nutritional blindness and reduce severity and case-fatality rate of childhood infections such as measles and diarrhea. Vitamin A plays an important role in the formation of the surface layers of cells covering the skin and mucous surfaces within the body’s organs and tissues including the lining of blood vessels. Vitamin A was found to be important in the mucosal production of lysozyme and in maintaining normal phagocyte sages, sinuses, ears, mastoids, periodontal tissues and tongue. It also plays in the production of sperm and bone formation. It is known to support fetal development and regulation of proliferation and differentiation of many types of cells throughout life. Vitamin A is also responsible for stronger immune response to infection and is essential to taste, hearing and appetite. It also has an important function in preventing infections in the lower respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tracts. Vitamin A is also known to be a critical nutrient for healthy skin.

Appropriate doses of vitamin A

Depending on the vitamin A content of the diet and rate of utilization of the body, adequate protection can be achieved by smaller frequent doses of 10 000 IU once a week or 50 000 IU once a month. The average daily amount of vitamin A that should be ingested by healthy individuals varies with age, body mass, metabolic activity and special conditions of pregnancy or lactation. Fetal malformations may occur when pregnant women take megadoses of vitamin A.

Robots killing cancer

Now this is the biggest hit of the century – robots killing cancer!

Scientists have created tiny mechanical nanoworms that could zip through the human body like cruise missiles. It has the ability to find and detect cancerous tumors before it even begins to spread. The friendly robots are said to be 3 million times smaller than an earthworm and are designed to release a drug that may kill the tumor without harming adjacent tissues. After delivery of the drugs to disease organs they self destruct and exit the body.

The problem is our own body’s defense mechanism. How can they stay long enough to find the tumors and complete their repair task without being attacked by the body’s defense mechanism itself?

Was pentagon able to solve the issue on base penetration without radar detection?

Here’s what researchers found. Nanoworms coated with slime, a polymer coating with tumor targeting molecule, could escape defense mechanism of laboratory mice for up to 24 hours. This period proved to be sufficient in finding potential tumors. Nanoworms link with potential tumors and make it easier to find the diseased organs during body scans.

Well warfare intelligence and design is not made only for the physical world I guess. It is also happening within the human body to race for a cure too – nondetection by the body sensors autodefense mechanism. Great pentagon intelligence lol!

Vitamin A: food sources and deficiency

Food sources of vitamin A

Preformed vitamin A commonly called as retinol is found only in animal foods. Fish liver oils and the liver of all animals are the richest sources but refrain from eating polar bear liver. It is so high in vitamin A that some people died from vitamin A overdose. Other sources include egg yolk, fatty fish like sardines and herring, butter, cheese, whole milk and other full-fat dairy products, liver and fish. Squash and other yellow vegetables are also rich sources of vitamin A. It can also be derived from fortified breakfast cereals, carrots, cantaloupes, sweet potatoes and spinach.

Diseases from deficiency of vitamin A

Night blindness is one of the first signs of vitamin A deficiency. People having deficiency in vitamin A suffer from night blindness and blindness. Vitamin A deficiency has been closely associated with xerophthalmia and other ocular lesions. This is because it makes the cornea very dry and damage the cornea and the retina. Vitamin A deficiency changes the differentiation state of typical epithelial cells. Deficiency was also related to increase rates of morbidity and mortality among children. There is a direct correlation between vitamin A and the immune system. Users must understand the context of vitamin A into the scheme of immune functions. However, the most common problems were diarrhea and respiratory infections. Health risk may include birth defects, liver abnormalities, central nervous system disorder and reduced bone mineral density that may result to osteoporosis.

Symptoms of acute toxicity

Nausea and vomiting, headache, dizziness, blurred vision and muscular uncoordination are common signs of acute toxicity.

Understanding Vitamin A

Now let’s take a closer look of the advantages and disadvantages of taking these supplements:

Vitamin A

The control for vitamin A deficiency is one of the most cost effective child health and child survival strategies governments can pursue. In 1984 WHO gave all possible support to member states in the prevention and control of vitamin A deficiency and xerophthalmia. Vitamin A plays a central role in many essential biological processes. Vitamin A is required at different stages of vertebrae development. This requirement remains crucial even with adults.

Vitamin A known as retinol is a fat soluble substance that supports one’s eyesight and prevents night blindness. This is not advisable to be taken everyday because it can be stored in body fat and may become toxic. It needs body fat for its absorption. This substance is being stored in the body organs. A large part of it can be stored in the liver. This substance is released into the bloodstream as needed for use by cells throughout the body especially the eyes. Periodic high dose supplementation is needed to build up reserve at times of reduced dietary intake or increase need. But there is a great possibility that large quantities could get accumulated which may proved harmful or toxic to the body considering that this is not lost or being discharged from the body through the urine. Vitamin A toxicity is a real problem.

Understanding vitamins and supplements

Vitamins are essential for health and energy. It protects us from contracting diseases. But it doesn’t follow that more is better. Any excessive ingestion contributes to waste and create havoc to the body. Vitamins are to be taken within safe limits. This article does not push readers to buy more pills but instead encourage readers to eat a variety of healthy foods to attain good health even without these pills. Supplementary vitamins are more useful to people who are unable or unwilling to eat normal foods. First and foremost, the patient needs to know if their choice is appropriate to what their bodies need. Information on the recommended daily intake shall be made available and applied as instructed. Knowledge about these supplements shall not focus only on the benefits but users should know any side effects for over use or prolonged use as well if there are any.

Every person in this planet should know what each of these vitamins do to the body, how to obtain them, how much is desirable to one’s age and stage in life and how to preserve them when cooking and preparing food. One should also know the effects of deficiency and possible problems of excess intake. This has been clearly discussed during our elementary days. I know each one fully memorized the basic food groups and the types of vitamins and minerals we need during elementary days. I just wonder who among you are like me who just drop it after passing the subject and come back to a more dedicated research now. This is after I realized the importance of balance diet and exercise as a prerequisite to living a good life and impressive well being.

Normally the levels of recommended intake of vitamins set by different countries vary. This is because the figures were based on estimates of human requirements. So if you want to know your required doses it would be wise to seek professional advice before taking anything. There are a total of 13 vitamins that your body needs. They are vitamins A, C, D, E, K and B the vitamins group. The B vitamins group is composed of thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folate.

Understanding asthma

Asthma is characterized by airflow obstruction caused by alterations in the caliber of airways which gave rise to wheezing, coughing and tightness in the chest or simply shortage of breath. Increased prevalence and severity of asthma is directly related to inflammation of the lungs.

This inflammatory disease was observed to occur when there is chronic exposure to dust mites, allergens or other chemicals, strong odor, tobacco smoke and fumes. It normally occurs when there is stress, experiencing cold air or hyperventilation, there is change in weather upper respiratory tract viral infections and too much laughter or crying. Asthma usually occurs early morning or at night time. So you will see that the patient may be a little bit normal at daytime but increases coughing and wheezing at nightfall.

Narrowing of the airways is usually reversible but in some cases there may be an element of irreversible airflow obstruction. The lining of the airways becomes tighten and swollen while the muscles surrounding the airways tighten during an attack. This results to the inside of the airways becoming narrower which may also be blocked with mucus. This way air is no longer free to move in and out of the lungs because the sticky liquid plugs up the airways which seem to slow or stop the flow of air making breathing difficult.

Asthma attack may last for several hours to days ranging from slight breathlessness to not being able to breathe at all. Asthma may be chronic for some people where the illness may last for a long time or even a lifetime. Most people with asthma have airways that are very sensitive to things that do not bother other people. Asthma triggers vary from person to person. Oftentimes asthma and allergens go together but a person may have allergies without suffering from asthma. Likewise a person may have asthma but without allergies.

The Dash diet

Make yourself younger with what you eat following the right food combination diets. Following a good diet plan can help you improve your health too and improve your skin texture. What you choose to eat affects your chances of developing long term chronic diseases. The only diet I’ve read so far that was highly recommended and promoted by the government was the DASH diet. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The 24 year old study pushes on the idea eating little meat and dairy but plenty of fruits and vegetables. According to a new study in the April 14, 2008 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, adherence to the diet reduces coronary heart disease and stroke in middle aged woman. The diet was said to lower blood pressure and was associated to reduction of low density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol.

Eat less salt! The combination of the diet plan and reduced sodium intake gives the greatest benefit. Remember that the lower your salt intake is the lower is your blood pressure. Your health could be a problem. Make changes in what you eat and drink, maintain a healthy weight and be moderately physically active on most days of the week. Blood pressures may be reduced with an eating plan that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol but high in fruits, vegetables and fat free or low fat milk products. DASH included whole grain products, fish, poultry and nuts. It discouraged consumption on foodstuffs with lean red meat, sweets and sugar containing beverages. The diet is practically rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, protein and fiber.

A small weight loss already helps to lower your risk if you are over your standard weight. The best way to lose pounds is by doing it gradually in an increasing regular physical activity such as swimming or walking. The most important things is to total about 30 minutes of activity each day but to avoid weight gain it should be a total of 60 minutes per day. To get started your physical activity program can be as simple as a 15 minute walk around the block each morning and evening. Set a schedule and try to keep it.

The ZONE diet

This is my perfect diet. The only diet plan I highly recommend that I won’t likely break rules. This is an easy to follow diet plan that requires no memorization of calories and fats content. The Zone diet only needs your hand and your thumb to measure your food. Some diet plans are easier said than done but this Zone diet can be done really by the measure of your hand and thumb.

No meal or snack is forbidden because the diet plan actually targets your body’s insulin production in an accurate balanced ratio of 40% carbohydrates, 30% fat and 30% protein. The combination allows dieters to obtain energy from carbohydrates rather than protein or fat to allow the body to exhibit optimum performance.

Zone diet introduced the Eyeball method measuring carbohydrates, fats and proteins using your hand. The amount of protein must be measured by the palm of your hand. In each meal you may consume protein equal to the size and thickness of your palm. You may measure carbohydrates by curling your hands into two loose fists but allow only a fistful if it is a less favorable carbohydrate containing high levels of sugar. The most exciting part is fats. Measure fat intake by the size of your thumb! Ouch… don’t extend your thumb lol. Try to live with your measure and you see life extensions ahead.

BTW if you are going to use your plate for the measurement of your food portions, I am telling you to stop and use your hand.

Plates differ in sizes unless you buy that diet plate I read somewhere in the web costing $30 a plate. Your hand is more likely to measure constantly. You gain weight and you lose weight but your hand is proportional to your body structure and to your food portion Zone diet needs. I hope you understand what I mean by proportionate measures of food portion with hand over diet plates.

The human body

The human body is designed for movement and strenuous physical activity. Prolonged physical inactivity exposes individuals at greater risk for developing chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, cancer, obesity and musculoskeletal disorders. It has been noted that regular physical activity is the best defense against development of many diseases. To expend approximately 1000 kcal/wk you need to exercise 150 min/wk. Don’t you know that women who walk briskly for 1.25 to 2.5 hr/wk reduces their risk for breast cancer by 18%? It is apparent that health benefits of exercise depend on the frequency, intensity and duration of the physical activity. As you grow older you should be able to at least maintain or increase the volume of your physical activity. A listing below may help you calculate the amount of physical activity you have been doing and enjoy doing.

Gardening for 30 to 45 minutes, washing and waxing a car for 45-60 min, walking in 35 min, basketball for 30 min, cycling for 30 min, dancing fast for 30 min and water aerobics for 30 min are considered as less vigorous activities. The more rigorous ones are swimming laps for 20 min, running and stair walking. These activities are easy to do and do not need any expensive gym memberships to complete. I have a client at the bank before who walk or jog early morning then go to swim late afternoons. My God at the age of 50 she looks young like 30s or late 30s and very sexy. Believe me she looks healthy as she looks sexy. Now isn’t that a good motivator ladies?

prevention is more important for healthy individuals

Today medical practitioners are more on the tasks of prevention rather than treatment. They would want to assess the physical fitness and physical activities of apparently healthy individuals rather than those who have suspected or documented cardiovascular disease. There are great benefits that one derives from regular physical activity in terms of disease prevention and health improvement. Physical inactivity I believe is now a global issue. When people are too busy fulfilling other commitments, health is always taken for granted. WHO reported that 60% of the global population does not meet the daily minimum recommendation of 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity. Government and medical practitioners are faced with the challenge of educating and motivating people to incorporate physical activity as a regular part of their lifestyles.

So let’s take a look at our lifestyle. Physical activity is easy to incorporate in our lives. Start taking the stairs rather than elevators or escalators. This will improve your cardiovascular health. Go to the gym at least three times a week if possible. If you find it difficult to manage time then maybe you would want to buy a bicycle and spend an hour or two at the park to sweat it out. Then take a good walk or a good jog to stretch the back and the upper muscles too. Stretch and sweat it out! Your body needs to keep those sweat glands working. Devise any physical activity that could stretch your muscles, improve your cardiovascular health and most of all easier for you to do like a treadmill at home.

Prevention of chronic diseases

Prevention of chronic diseases and the reduction of their impact are seen to be related to dietary and lifestyle changes. The role of diet is essential in preventing and controlling morbidity. Since rapid changes in diets and lifestyles have occurred with industrialization, economic development and market globalization, progress has significant impact on health and nutritional status of population. With the increase of inappropriate dietary patterns and decrease of physical activity is the corresponding increase of diet related chronic diseases. Changes in the world food economy are practically reflected in the shift of dietary patterns. Because of these changes, obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, stroke and cancer are increasingly fast becoming causes of disability and death.

Trends in shifting dietary patterns and increasing sedentary lifestyle are major risk factor for noncommunicable chronic diseases. Along with the increased tobacco use are the corresponding increased of diet related chronic diseases which is more common among the poor people. Nutrition is fast coming to the fore as major modifiable determinant of chronic diseases. Any alterations in diet have both positive and negative long term effects on health and life. Dietary adjustments may very well determine any person’s tendency to develop diseases like cancers, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in later life. This is to reiterate the importance of nutrition, diet and exercise in a person’s life even at a very young age. Developing recommendations for diet and nutrition and the need for sufficient physical activity is still best in the prevention of chronic diseases.

Inactivity and muscle imbalance

Muscle imbalance is a real culprit in shoulder and back injuries. An example is a tight hamstring which may pull your pelvis down and change the position of your back making it lose its optimal alignment. Increase forces at your low back will raise your chances of injury. General inactivity leads to muscle tightness, shortens muscles and decreases flexibility. The effect is the same for anybody undergoing a lot or rigid training with heavy weights. To prevent the onset of muscle tightness one needs to create a good exercise program and a good diet plan for well being. The diet I recommend that really monitors your glucose level is the Zone Diet. The exercise I recommend that won’t create more pain for your body is plain stretching.

Stretching is a good form of exercise for people who find it difficult to commit to strength training programs. Stretching maximizes the length of the muscle but does not changes the body’s skeletal alignment condition. Tight muscles are a result of poor posture like sitting with a slumped, forward head posture and a forward shoulder posture. This posture leads to tight pectoral muscles. Please be aware that sitting for extended hours leads to shortened hip flexors as well as shortened hamstrings. Muscles related to back and neck problems can lead to tight muscles and can stay tight for a prolonged period of time. This is due to an irritation in the spinal joints or nerve roots.
